Mi piacerebbe aprire un dibattito su Ecate nelle "Vie Sinistre" (o nella Via della Mano Sinistra), considerando che è la patrona di questo gruppo (e di Hekate Edizioni), oltre che di quello di cui ci occupiamo...
Se consideriamo l’aspetto oscuro di Hecate, come di qualsiasi altra divinità, ci soffermeremo su quello che rappresenta dal punto di vista della trasformazione, della trasgressione e del Caos. E’ un aspetto che non si è trattato molto considerando che non si tratta di un sentiero molto percorso e spesso denigrato, tacciandolo superficialmente di “maligno”.
Chi è Hecate? Quali sono le sue emanazioni? Come è possibile lavorare con il suo epiteto di “portatrice di luce”? Hecate nel Sentiero Sinistro rappresenta una donna molto poco comune.
In quasi tutti i pantheon pre-cristiani troviamo divinità femminili che in qualche modo sono legate, accoppiate o vincolate ad una figura maschile.
Nel caso di Hecate non è così.
Hecate è un’entità indipendente alla quale, eventualmente, ricorrono altri per aumentare il loro potere.
E’ capace di attraversare tutti i mondi e per questo è la dea dei crocevia.
Hecate attraversa i mondi: sola e di notte. Qualcosa che ci sembra pericoloso per una donna persino oggi, nel 2020, in certe zone.
Hecate ha forza e potere e spesso è stata purtroppo dimenticata. Cosa dimentichiamo, se dimentichiamo Hecate? Che una donna può essere capace di attraversare il suo mondo, attraversare la sua vita, sola.
Ha le sue proprie guide, che sono le sue torce e le sue proprie chiavi per andare ovunque voglia, sola.
Questa considerazione mette in discussione tutti i concetti patriarcali che ci sono stati inculcati fino ad oggi.
Le “Vie Sinistre” ci insegnano ad essere forti, ad essere le nostre stesse divinità trovano in Hecate colei che proporziona gli strumenti che permettono sia all’uomo che alla donna di collocarsi al centro della propria vita (“le torce”, l’intelligenza per guidarsi nel cammino, “le chiavi”, per attraversare la propria vita).
Hecate ci dice di credere in noi stesse.
In quest’epoca, Hecate è la dea che risuona maggiormente con le donne delle “Vie Sinistre”.
Essendo cresciuti in un contesto cattolico, volenti o nolenti, ci trasciniamo ovunque il fantasma della Vergine Maria, che identifichiamo come la Madre...
Andiamo a scoprire l’epiteto di “Hekate Chrysosandaleamopotichthonia”, che la “dea degli Inferi vestita con sandali dorati che beve sangue”. Che cosa significa questo da un punto di vista simbolico?
Ecate viene dall’oltretomba con i suoi sandali dorati bevendo sangue.
In questa versione Ecate è stata utilizzata spesso per maledizioni.
Vediamo quindi come Ecate che ha molti aspetti benevoli e amabili e può essere considerata da questo punto di vista ha anche altre caratteristiche non così rassicuranti.
Può essere una Dea terribile, capace anche di cose mostruose. In questo aspetto Ecate è legata anche alla necromanzia (la Dea che viene dall’Oltretomba per consumare l’essenza dell’essere umano – ovvero il sangue).
Iniziamo con il comprendere che significato aveva l’atto di “bere sangue” per gli antichi e cioè alla possibilità di togliere essenza vitale. Questa caratteristica vi risuonerà certamente con le lamie, ad esempio, con l’aspetto vampirico e persino con Lilith e i lilitu. Ancora una volta quest’epiteto ci ricorda come in noi esistano luci ed ombre e che, queste caratteristiche negative possono essere molto potenti e di conseguenza vanno conosciute e sapute controllare per utilizzarle eventualmente nei momenti adatti.
Quest’epiteto, inoltre ci ricorda che la Dea è relazionata più col mondo soprannaturale che con quello terreno e a dimostrazione di ciò possiamo trovare vari epiteti nei quali ha un aspetto antropomorfo (“testa di cavallo” o “di toro”, ad esempio) e quindi ha un aspetto mostruoso che ricorda i nostri incubi, le nostre paure. Ecate quindi, non è una Dea da prendere alla leggera perché può addirittura essere pericolosa per l’essere umano…

I would like to open a debate on Hecate in the "Vie Sinistre" (or LHP), considering that she is the patroness of of Hekate Editions), as well as what we deal with ...

If we consider the dark aspect of Hekate, like that of any other deity, we will focus on the point of view of transformation, transgression and Chaos. It is an aspect that has not been dealt with much in fact it has never been a very traveled path and has been very often denigrated, superficially calling it "malignant".

Who is Hecate? What are its emanations? How is it possible to work with her epithet of "bearer of light"? Hecate in the Sinister Path representing a very uncommon woman.

In almost all pre-Christian pantheons we find female deities who are somehow related, paired or linked to a male figure.

In the case of Hecate this is not the case.

Hecate is an independent entity which, eventually, others may resort to to increase their power.

She is capable of crossing all worlds and for this reason she is the goddess of crossroads.

Hecate crosses worlds: alone and at night. Something that in certain areas appears dangerous for a woman even today in 2020

Hecate has strength and power and has unfortunately often been forgotten. What do we forget if we forget Hecate? That a woman may be able to go through her world, go through her life alone.

She has her own guides, which are her own torches and her own keys to go wherever she wants always alone.

This consideration calls into question all the patriarchal concepts that have been inculcated in us up to now.

The " Sinister Ways" teach us to be strong, our own divinities find in Hecate the one who provides the tools that allow both men and women to place themselves at the center of their lives ("the torches", the intelligence to guide them along the way, “the keys”, to go through one's life).

Hecate tells us to believe in ourselves.

In this era, Hekate is the goddess who resonates most with the women of the " Sinister characters Ways".

Let's discover the epithet of "Hekate Chrysosandaleamopotichthonia", the "goddess of the Underworld dressed in golden sandals who drinks blood". What does this mean from a symbolic perspective?

Hecate comes from the afterlife with her golden sandals drinking blood.

In this version, Hecate was often used to issue curses.

Therefore, since Hecate has many benevolent and lovable aspects, it can be taken into consideration from this point of view, but at the same time it is endowed with other characteristics that are not so reassuring.

She can be a terrible Goddess, capable even of monstrous things. In this aspect Hecate is also linked to necromancy (the Goddess who comes from the Underworld to consume the essence of the human being - that is, blood).

Let's start by understanding what the act of "drinking blood" had for the ancients and that is the possibility of removing the vital essence. This feature will certainly resonate with the lamias, for example, with the vampiric aspect and even with Lilith and the lilitu. Once again this epithet reminds us that lights and shadows are not present in us and that these negative characteristics can be very powerful and consequently they must be deeply known and able to control in order to be able to use them at the right times.

This epithet also reminds us that the Goddess is more related to the supernatural world than to the earthly one and to demonstrate this it is possible to find various epithets in which she has an anthropomorphic aspect ("horse head" or "bull", for example) and therefore it has a monstrous aspect it brings us back to our nightmares, to our fears. Hecate, therefore, is not a Goddess to be taken lightly
